Palm kernel oil

Elaeis guineensis

The palm kennel oil has long ago been recognized in West African countries as a valuable vegetable product. With the world evolving and many people gradually re-tuning to healthier lifestyles, it is no surprise the growing demand for natural oils such as palm kennel oil. This is because it is a healthier and cheaper alternative to most vegetable oils on the market.

In the 1960’s research and development (R&D) in oil palm breeding began to expand after Malaysia’s department of agriculture established an exchange program with West African economies and four major plantations forms the Oil Palm Genetics Laboratory. The Malaysian government also established Kolej Serdang which became the University Pertanian Malaysia (UPM) in the 1970s to train Agricultural and agro industrial engineers and agribusiness graduates to conduct research in the field

Market

Palm kennel oil is exported all over the world with Malaysia in the lead as largest producer, followed by West African countries.

Uses

Palm kennel oil is mostly used in the manufacture of soaps, washing detergents and personal care products. It is also used for commercial cooking because it is lower in cost than other vegetable oils.

Production

It all begins with a stock of high quality palm nuts. The nuts are first crushed with a nut crusher, and the extracted seeds are heated with a seed fryer to excite the oil molecules. Upon transferring the heated-crushed nuts to the oil press, the seeds are pressed to expel their oil contents through the oil exit chamber.

Strategy

SCC sources palm kernel oil from sustainable sources that are located in small holder farms. They are then kept in the best of storage facilities to ensure hygienic packaging and maintain the natural great qualities of our products.
